DJ Starscream turns legacy into platform for music misfits

Sid Wilsonoriginal member of Slipknot since 1997, officially launched the label Vomit Face Recordsrevealing its mission and the first artist signed. “Vomit Face Records is about breaking down walls,” he declared Wilson in an official statement. “It’s for artists who don’t fit in and never wanted to. It’s a rebel in motion, who stands out without apology. It’s where sound, hard work and spirit collide and no one can tell you how to look or feel.”

Despite the gear bags and masked look in the age of Slipknot, Wilson made a long solo journey as a DJ and producer — performances such as Starscream or with the band itself, they showed their sound restlessness. Now, the label appears as a natural extension of this creative impulse, aimed at artists who seek aesthetic freedom above any commercial formula. As he himself pointed out: “Real art is not beautiful, it must provoke something uncomfortable and break down walls to create something new within you”.

The first artist signed by the label is the rapper Lil Bushwickwhose first track, “Take It Back”has the posthumous participation of the father, BushwickBill (from the group Geto Boys). Wilson explained: “The BushwickBill and I made a pact to record an album — after he passed away, I met his son, discovered he was an artist and made a promise to the spirit of Bushwick to produce this album for his son.” Lil Bushwick is scheduled for release on October 31, 2025.

Meet Sid Wilson

Also known by the number #0 node Slipknot, Sid Wilson is one of the most enigmatic and unpredictable figures in modern metal. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, the DJ and producer stood out for transforming turntables into an instrument of sound destruction. Since the band’s first album in 1999, he has been responsible for some of the electronic texture and industrial chaos that define the group’s sound.

Outside the Slipknot, Wilson built a trajectory as DJ Starscreamname inspired by a character from Transformerswhere he mixes jungle, drum’n’bass and industrial with underground hip-hop references. Their style is a direct reflection of the band’s aesthetic: chaotic, provocative and always on the verge of collapse. Over the years, he has collaborated with artists from different genres and launched side projects that explore the boundaries between metal and electronic music.

In addition to music, Sid He also ventured into design, fashion and audiovisual production, always maintaining the dirty and experimental aesthetic that made him famous. With the launch of Vomit Face Recordshe transforms his creative energy into a space for new artists — an attempt to return to the scene the same spirit of rebellion and invention that the Slipknot represented in the late 1990s.
