The publication prepared by MPRS, IPHAN and IPHAE aims to strengthen emergency plans and preserve cultural heritage in emergency situations
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio Grande do Sul (MPRS) launched, this Wednesday (22), in collaboration with the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN) and the State Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAE), a technical guide aimed at creating and executing emergency plans for municipalities with listed historic centers. The launch took place in an online event in the presence of the authorities of the three institutions and the prosecutor’s offices.
The main objective of the initiative is to strengthen actions to protect cultural heritage in the face of disaster situations, especially after the losses recorded in several cities of Rio Grande do Sul. The document offers guidelines based on UNESCO recommendations, encouraging a preventive and integrated approach.
Among the topics covered are risk identification, evacuation plans, response strategies and the fundamental role of the local community in the preservation of cultural heritage. The project coordinator, lawyer Ana Maria Moreira Marchesan, underlined that “the community is always the best guardian of its heritage”.
The material also presents specific guidelines for cities of historical significance, such as Antônio Prado, Pelotas, Jaguarão, Bagé and Porto Alegre, among others. The guide was organized in collaboration with Carlos Renato Savoldi (IPHAE), Rafael Pavan dos Passos (IPHAN-RS) and with the technical support of the Civil Protection of Salvador. Log in here.
