The comedian gives long interviews and opens the doors to his home in the new Netflix film

Eddie Murphy shows why he is “different from everyone else in this town” in the trailer for his new documentary, Being Eddie. Directed by Angus Wallthe film takes a deep dive into the star’s unique trajectory, bringing together extensive interviews with Murphyintimate moments with family and testimonials from friends and colleagues such as Dave Chappelle, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jamie Foxx and Jerry Seinfeld.

The trailer highlights the breadth of the production, which revisits the rise of Murphy — from stand-up phenomenon and star of Saturday Night Live to one of the most influential artists in pop culture. “My work stood out because they had never seen a young black man take charge”says the comedian in one excerpt.

Being Eddie also explores the versatility of Murphy and his ability to reinvent himself, whether playing several characters in The Nutty Professor with the use of prostheses, or obtaining indications for Oscar and to Golden Globe for his work in Dreamgirls.

But the documentary also promises lightness and humor. In the trailer, Murphy makes a shadow with the figure of Donkey Shrekplays with a ventriloquist dummy Richard Pryormakes jokes about “haunt his own house” and reveals his favorite TV show: Ridiculousness. “I love that he stays at home watching Ridiculousness — this is hilarious”comments Pete Davidson in the video.

Premiering on November 12th on Netflix, Being Eddie will also feature participation from Chris Rock, Kenan Thompson, Kevin Hart, Ruth Carter, Michael Che, Tracy Morgan, Arsenio Hall, Brian Grazer, Jerry Bruckheimer, John Landisamong other names. Check out the trailer below:
