“House of the Dragon” will arrive on HBO and HBO Max this Sunday, and the first episode will have a scene with the impact of the Red Wedding, or at least that’s what author George RR Martin promises.
In an interview with vanity fairMartin reflected on one scene in particular, which is receiving strong reactions from those who have already seen the first episode of “The House of the Dragon”.
“That scene is … you don’t want to use the word ‘beautiful’ for a scene like that, but it’s incredibly powerful,” said the author. “It’s visceral and will rip your heart out and throw it to the ground. It has the kind of impact that the Red Wedding had. It’s a beautifully crafted scene of something horrible.
The Red Wedding, one of the most famous scenes in the history of television, was a milestone in “Game of Thrones”, mainly due to the surprise and brutality of the deaths of Robb and Catelyn Stark, in a bloody massacre articulated by the Freys, Lannister and Bolton.
“House of the Dragon” is a prequel to “Game of Thrones” and takes place 200 years before the events of the series, telling the story of the Dance of Dragons, the civil war between the Targaryens that left the dragons on the brink of extinction.
The prequel series “House of the Dragon” will debut on HBO and HBO Max this Sunday, August 21, and will air weekly.
