“Since returning to the stage in San Luis Obispo five weeks ago, we’ve been reminded why we love and are eternally devoted to doing this Foo Fighters thing,” Dave Grohl said in a statement.

Foo Fighters quietly returned in September with a series of club shows across the US, where they introduced the new drummer Ilan Rubin. The band followed up with bigger shows in Asia earlier this month. All of this served as a warm-up for a summer tour of North American stadiums in 2026, which they just announced. The tour kicks off on August 4th at Rogers Stadium in Toronto and ends on September 26th in Las Vegas. Ticket sales start on October 31st.

“Since returning to the stage in San Luis Obispo five weeks ago, we’ve been reminded why we love and are eternally devoted to doing this Foo Fighters thing,” he says. Dave Grohl in a statement. “From coming together as a band and tackling a 30-year backlog of songs to dust off, to reimagining versions with the incredible blessing of the one and only Ilan Rubin on the drums, until we reconnect with our incredible fans and rock with everything we’ve got — no matter the size of the venue — because we wouldn’t be here without them, we have the most solid core. And the sun is finally rising over the horizon.”

Queens of the Stone Age will be the opening band. “In 1992, I saw the legendary Kyuss perform at Off Ramp in Seattle and met Mr. Josh Homme“, it says Grohl. “The band was a friend of a friend, and in a short time the album Blues for the Red Sun became the soundtrack of that summer. 33 years later and with many miles behind us, I have shared some of the most rewarding musical moments of my life with my dear friend, Josh. A lifelong bond that goes far beyond the sound we made together. So it is with great joy that we can share this next chapter together with its powerful Queens of the Stone Age. Get ready.”

Along with the tour dates, the Foos have shared a new single titled “Asking For a Friend”. “[É] a song for those who have waited patiently in the cold, trusting in hope and faith for their horizon to appear,” he wrote Grohl. “Seeking ‘proof’ when hanging on by a wish until the sun shines again. One of many songs to come…”

The latest album by Foo Fighters he was But Here We Are (2023). It was their first LP since the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins. Grohl played drums on the album, and the band hired Josh Freese for the tour. They separated from him in May. “No reason was given,” he said. Freese in a statement. “I’ve never been dropped from a band, so while I’m not angry — just a little shocked and disappointed. But as most of you know, I’ve always freelanced and bounced between bands, so I’m fine.”

The Foos replaced Freese by the drummer Nine Inch Nails, Ilan Rubin. In a move practically unprecedented in the history of rock, the NIN completed the exchange by hiring Freese to replace Rubin. It was all part of a strange phenomenon this year — informally called Drummergeddon — where Pearl Jam, the Who, Guns N’ Roses, Primus, Oasis and Iron Maiden joined the Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails upon parting ways with a longtime drummer.
