The rock stars have worked together previously and will team up on the Take Cover Tour in 2026

On October 23rd, Foo Fighters officially announced the details of his upcoming tour alongside Queens of the Stone Agewhich will take place between August and September 2026 in the United States and Canada.

Foo Fighters also shared a new single, titled “Asking For A Friend“. The band had already been hinting that they were “about to take flight” into their next era after the release of “Today’s Song” in July 2025.

THE Take Cover Tour 2026 will also feature the participation of independent bands Mannequin Pussyindie rock, and Gouge Awayhardcore punk, on selected dates.

Dave Grohlvocalist and guitarist of Foo Fightersspoke about the “lifelong bond” he has with Josh Hommefounder and only original remnant of Queens of the Stone Age.

Grohl shared why the QOTSA It’s a perfect fit for the show. “What better way to share the view than with close friends?” he began. “In 1992, I saw the legendary Kyuss perform for the first time at Off Ramp in Seattle and met Mr. Josh Homme. The band was a friend of a friend, and before long their album Blues for the Red Sun became the soundtrack of that summer. 33 years later, and with many miles covered, I have shared some of the most rewarding musical moments of my life with my dear friend Josh“.

The relationship between Homme and Grohl

Man and Grohl have a long history of musical collaboration. Grohl has already taken on the role of drummer in QOTSAand worked alongside Man on the album Songs For The Deaf (2002).

Furthermore, the two were part of the stoner rock supergroup Them Crooked Vulturesformed in 2009 by Man, Grohland John Paul Jonesfrom Led Zeppelin. The project released a single self-titled album and, after touring between 2009 and 2010, the members returned to their main work. In 2011, the band won a Grammy of Best Hard Rock Performance for music “New Fang“.

In 2021, Grohl said in an interview that the opportunity to join the stars was “incredibly inspiring, a really incredible moment” and that he hoped to experience it again someday. Just a year later, in 2022, they reunited for tribute shows in memory of the band’s late drummer. Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins.

In an interview with NME in 2023, Man talked about this long-time friendship. “Dave It was one of my longest relationships that worked. He’s such a cool guy, but I also love his dark side,” the singer shared. According to him, the two continued to connect despite their experiences of loss. “I love mixing our watercolors together like that, just in conversation. Let’s go to a place, I won’t name it, just to have breakfast, eat waffles and talk about the good times.”

The Queens of the Stone Age

Mixing alternative rock, hard rock and ‘stoner rock’, the Queens of the Stone Age is known for its heavy sound and psychedelic atmosphere. The band is led by Manand currently also has Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar, Michael Shuman at the bottom, Dean Fertita on keyboards and Jon Theodore on the battery.

THE QOTSA There are not only shows with Foo Fighters into your schedule. Earlier this month, the band began their tour Catacombs in the USA and Europe. The band surprised the audience by playing rare songs: they debuted the new track “Easy Street” and did a cover of “Spinning In Daffodils“, from Them Crooked Vultures.

The tour began after the release of the concert film and live EP, Alive in the Catacombs, in June 2025. The project was recorded the previous year and features the band in an unprecedented performance in the Paris Catacombs, along with a documentary detailing the emotional and physical challenges faced by the band while recording underground. Tickets for all shows on the tour Foo Fighters and the Queens of the Stone Age will go on general sale at 10am next Friday, October 31, 2025.
