Crespo praises San Paolo’s commitment, but leaves the future open: “I don’t know if I’ll stay”

After the victory over Bahia, the Argentine coach celebrates the end of the negative streak and praises the commitment of the players in a difficult moment of the season

Coach Hernán Crespo made a point of appreciating the fighting spirit of the Sao Paulo team after the 2-0 victory over Bahia, this Saturday (25/10), at Morumbis, on the 30th matchday of the Brazilian Championship. The result ended a sequence of defeats and gave confidence to the team, which once again dreamed of a place in the next edition of the Libertadores.

After the triumph, the Argentine coach defended his players and underlined the group’s commitment in a turbulent phase of the season.

“The match was different, the concentration from minute zero to the end. I’m really very happy, because it’s a group that deserves joy, works, sacrifices a lot”, said Crespo.

“The season has been complicated by everything that has happened and is happening, but this group has shown its face. Then I’m not just talking about the result, we already know that a bit of anything can happen, but no one should doubt this group in terms of sacrifice, professionalism and dedication. When these things are repeated, with authority, I’m happy,” he added.

Furthermore, the coach was also asked about the future of the club and the program for 2026, as well as the importance of Luciano, who scored a goal and an assist in the match and reached 100 goals with the Italian shirt. With a contract until the end of 2026, Crespo preferred to take a break and not commit to staying.

“I will not speak, I will not give my opinion on what the president says, out of respect. These are things that will happen in 2026, we are still in 2025. When this year ends, which has many things, I will speak. I don’t know if I will stay, I think so, but I don’t know,” he declared.

With 41 points, São Paulo occupies eighth place in the Brasileirão, five points behind sixth-placed Botafogo. The team then returns to the pitch on November 2nd, at 8.30pm, to face Vasco da Gama, in São Januário, for the 31st round of the competition.
