Gone are the days of Dr. Mamoru who broke heads on Grey’s Anatomy. Patrick Dempsey, who left the hit medical series more than a decade ago – despite appearing in a few episodes since then – hasn’t been idle and will soon headline a new series expected to hit our screens next year.
In Memory of a Murderer, the actor Angelo portrays Leda, an assassin who develops early-onset Alzheimer’s and is determined to destroy those whose names she soon forgets. Produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, the series is written by Ed Whitmore and Tracy Maloney. It was inspired by the Belgian film The Memory of the Killer, itself adapted from a story By Zach Alzheimer (Alzheimer’s case) by Jeff Geraerts.
Dempsey stars opposite Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, White Lotus), who plays Holland, Angelo’s old friend and sophisticated chef whose restaurant serves as a front for a criminal enterprise. Starring Richard Harmon (Final Destination: Bloodlines) as the killer; Odeya Rush (Lady Bird) is Angelo’s daughter, Maria; And Daniel David Stewart (Reacher) plays Maria’s husband, Jeff. Finally, Peter Gadiot (Yellow Jackets) steps into the shoes of Dave, a police detective, and Gina Torres lends her personality to Special Agent Linda Grant.
In the few images revealed by the teaser above, we can hear the classic Behind the blue eyes ᐯanmo: “No one knows what it’s like to be a bad person, to be a sad person. Behind the blue eyes”. With no dialogue, the video focuses on the action.
Patrick Dempsey’s darker register, matching his recent roles in Dexter: Origins, a prequel to the notorious serial killer’s youth, or Eli Roth’s horror film Thanksgiving.
Memory Of A Killer will air on Fox in January. We don’t know yet where or when it will be available in France.
