Racing x Flamengo: where to see it, lineups and referees

Playing in the feared Cilindro Avellaneda, Rubro-Negro seeks fifth place in the Libertadores final, the fourth in seven years; I wait

Control your anxiety, fans! The final phase of the Libertadores 2025 is approaching and, this Wednesday (29/10), is the long-awaited day to meet the first finalist of the current edition of the main continental tournament. Starting at 9.30pm (Brasilia time), Racing (ARG) and Flamengo will compete in the second leg semi-final, in the (crowded) Presidente Perón stadium, in Avellaneda. After winning 1-0 at the Maracanã, Fla arrives in Argentina with the lead and could advance in the event of a draw. The Argentine team, however, only has the attack left to try to return to the final after 48 long years.

Where to look

The game will be broadcast by Globo on open TV and Paramount+ in streaming.

How Racing arrives

Racing fans celebrate before 'decision' –

Despite the narrow defeat at the Maracanã, Racing’s morale is high. After all, just winning the match is enough to try to stay alive in the competition. If the hypothetical victory occurs by just one goal difference, it will be a penalty shootout. If Gustavo Costas’ team wins by two or more points, they will reach the dream final.

And, according to the national press, there would be changes in the lineup, one of which was forced. This is because defender/midfielder Sosa was injured in the first match and underwent surgery to correct a facial fracture. So he gives way to Nardoni. Two other possible changes would then be tactical and technical.

Costas, in fact, still has doubts as a right back, with Martirena who could give way to Mura. The other would be in attack, with the possibility of Costas putting two number 9 shirts in attack: Maravilla Martínez and Balboa. Conechny can still remain in the starting lineup after the good performance in the first leg at Maracanã. The expectation, therefore, is that of a very offensive team, different from what happened in Rio de Janeiro.

How Flamengo arrives

Arrascaeta is Flamengo's goal hope –

The time has come, Mengão! Flamengo arrived in the Argentine capital last Monday (27/10) and opted for privacy, staying in a luxury hotel far from the city. The main absence from the first match is that of Pedro, who injured his hand in the match in question and is currently out of action. Gonzalo Plata takes his place.

A probable return, however, is that of Léo Ortiz. With a ligament strain in his right ankle after the match against Palmeiras on the 19th, the player accelerated his recovery to be able to return to what is the most important commitment of 2025 for Rubro-Negro. If he is not in order, Danilo will act in his place.

Alex Sandro returns, who after a series of matches rested and didn’t even travel to Fortaleza, where Fla lost to the hosts. The same goes for midfielder Pulgar and winger Carrascal. Both, however, did not act due to suspension. De la Cruz traveled after an absence due to the virus and is expected to remain on the bench. A possible surprise would be the presence of Saúl in place of Luiz Araújo, with coach Filipe Luís opting for a quartet in midfield.

Whoever advances takes the winner of the clash between LDU (EQU) and Palmeiras. In the first leg Ecuador won 3-0 in Quito. The return match – at Allianz – takes place this Thursday (30/10).
