The Uruguayan national team announces the Brazilian coach at the helm of the team

Jadson Vieira spent most of his playing and coaching career in Uruguay, but also played for Vasco and Internacional

Uruguay’s Nacional announced on Tuesday (28) the hiring of Brazilian Jadson Vieira as their new coach. The gaucho, 44 ​​years old, was in Boston River, also from the neighboring town, and arrives to take the place of Pablo Peirano, fired by Bolso the day before.

Born in Santana do Livramento, on the border with Uruguay, Jadson spent much of his playing career in the country. Raised in the Danubio youth team, the defender played for Vasco from 2010 to 2011. He subsequently played for Nacional until 2012. As a player he also played for Argentina’s Lanús, Mexico’s Atlante and the Uruguayan Rentistas.

After retiring from the field in 2017, Jadson began working as an assistant to head coach Cacique Medina. As a result, he had a spell at Internacional, in 2022. Furthermore, he was with the coach of Talleres, Vélez Sarsfield and Nacional itself.

Last year he began his career as a head coach. The Brazilian led Boston River and achieved the third best season of the Uruguayan championship, qualifying the team for the preliminary phase of the Libertadores. In the international tournament he was eliminated by Bahia.

Now Jadson leaves Boston River in fourth place in the league and takes over from second-placed Nacional, four points behind leader Peñarol. In his third spell at Bolso, the Brazilian will have his big coaching opportunity.
