Inter beat Verona with a late own goal and remain on Napoli’s heels

A saving goal was scored in the 49th minute of the second half, shortly after VAR disallowed the awarding of a penalty in favor of the hosts.

It was tough, but Inter beat Verona 2-1, this Sunday (2), at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium, in the 10th matchday of the Italian Championship. In the 49th minute of the second half, an own goal ended up saving us. With this result the Neroazzurri remain in second place, with 21 points, just one distance behind Napoli. Verona, on the other hand, continues the martyrdom of not having won yet. With five points they are in 18th and penultimate place, in the relegation zone.

Inter’s first goal came in the 16th minute, with Zielinski finishing with precision following an assist from Çalhanoglu. Verona reacted in the first half, in the 40th minute, when the young Brazilian, coming from the Corinthians academy, equalised, taking advantage of a pass from Orban and bringing emotion back into the match.

Heavy rain cooled the game in the second half, and the excitement was reserved for the extra minutes. In the 48th minute the referee whistles a penalty for the home team, but the dream of winning the first championship match is over. The VAR, however, reviewed the action and the call was cancelled. Then Inter goes on the attack and the hard-fought victory comes thanks to an own goal by Frese in the 49th minute.
