Allociné: From cashier to general manager of L. Cosmétiques, Miriam has developed into the main character of Un si grand soleil. How do you assess its development in the last two years?
Pauline Paolini : Miriam progressed quite quickly with important encounters each time. Throughout this character, it is true, there were very strong intrigues. I was also interested in all the subjects that were covered through Myriam for two years. There were social issues that were very interesting to address. I’ve been lucky enough to be in very different stories in terms of emotions, toys and characters to meet. Especially his personal journey is interesting to me.
How do you see the Mark-Miriam couple?
Mark (Cesar Merrick) and Miriam experience something powerful. They could overcome a lot. Their relationship was strong enough, close enough and sincere enough to withstand all external events that could go against them.
Miriam will unfortunately meet a tragic end as she is found dead in the warehouse of L. Cosmétiques. When did you hear that Miriam was going to die? And what was your reaction?
It was a joint decision with the producer that Miriam’s character leaves. The way he left really surprised me. It’s a bit violent (laughs). Finally, I think it’s better to end the adventure than to stay in the dark.
I spent two extraordinary years on the Un si grand soleil adventure. True, I wanted to give more time and space to other projects. It was good to get some great experience and leave. So to really stop, the character has to die. Otherwise, we are always waiting for something.
How was filming your last scene in the series?
It was very moving. It was the scene with Melanie Maudran where Claire and Miriam make a beautiful declaration of friendship. It was very exciting to shoot because we created something very powerful with Melanie. It was a real pleasure to shoot with him and I think it was a shared pleasure.
Which memory of the shooting and which story will remain the most striking?
I really liked the story with Violet at the end of her life. This is something that really bothered me.
What will you miss most now that Un si grand soleil is turning the page?
It’s the quality of the people we work with. Be it the technical team, the actors, the production… we are really well surrounded by great kindness.
