It looks like the next film in the “Ocean’s” franchise will reunite Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in their second on-screen collaboration since the highly anticipated “Barbie.”
Are Barbie and Ken inseparable? As Puck News has confirmed, after Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie, Ryan Gosling Indeed is in talks to rejoin Margot Robbie in his second project: The Next Ocean’s Saga reboot.
The feature film is currently only in development, but a spring 2023 production is being considered according to The Hollywood Reporter.
At the helm of this new opus we find Jay Roach, the director of the Austin Powers and My Stepfather and Me film series. This will be his second collaboration with Margot Robbie after he directed the actress in Scandal alongside Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman. The upcoming feature film will also be produced by Margot Robbie.
As for the script, we know that it will be signed by Kerry Solomon and that it will take place in Europe in the 1960s.
Released by Steven Soderbergh in 2001, Warner Bros.’ The Ocean’s franchise has enjoyed tremendous success ever since. What began as a simple remake of Lewis Milestone’s 1960 Stranger in Las Vegas starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. – among others -, It has since turned into an unexpected and profitable saga.
It all started with Ocean’s Eleven, starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon. After the first heist comedy grossed more than $450 million worldwide, Soderbergh and company followed up with two more installments, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s 13, in 2004 and 2007, respectively.
The franchise returned in 2018 with Ocean’s 8, an all-female spin-off starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina and Rihanna.
Expected to star in David O’Russell’s thriller Amsterdam, alongside a star cast including Christian Bale, Anya Taylor-Joy and Michael Shannon, due out next November, Margot Robbie will also reunite with Brad Pitt in Damien Chazelle’s next film, Babylon, due out in January. 2023 is with us.
Following Barbie , which is slated for a July 2023 release, Ryan Gosling will also share a poster with Emily Blunt in David Leitch’s action drama The Fall Guy for Universal.
