HBO presents this Sunday (8/21), starting at 10:00 pm, a new war for the Iron Throne, with the intrigues, the grandiose battles and the dark events that characterized the television success of “Game of Thrones”.
The debut spin-off, “House of the Dragon”, takes place 200 years before the original series, with characters completely unknown to the general public. The plot revolves around Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors and should help explain many of the Mother of Dragons’ controversial decisions.
To know if history repeats itself, attention must be paid to her distant relative, Rhaenyra, who will also fly over King’s Landing with incendiary dragons, in a fatal siege.
But until then, described in the pages of “Fire & Blood” (book by George R. Martin, creator of the literary universe of “Game of Thrones”), the new saga developed by screenwriter Ryan J. Condal (creator of the sci series -fi “Cologne”) will have to move different pieces of the game of thrones.
In order not to get lost in the story, take a look at the main pieces of the board below, including kings, queens, tall towers, knights and pawns.
In addition to being shown on the paid HBO channel, “A Casa do Dragão” is also available to stream on HBO Max.
KING VISERYS TARGARYEN

Played by Paddy Considine, Viserys is the current King of Westeros, Rhaenyra’s father and Daemon’s older brother. He was initially chosen to succeed his grandfather on cousin, a favorite of many of him. Now, his fate forces him to relive the same dilemma, when he has to choose his heir between his daughter and brother.
RHAENYRA TARGARYEN

Rhaenyra is played as a teenager by Milly Alcock and as an adult by Emma D’Arcy. She is the eldest daughter of King Visery, but not a man, which leads to questioning her claim to her on the Iron Throne. She is also an expert dragon rider. And someone to watch carefully, because her trajectory has twists a la Daenerys.
DAEMON TARGARYEN

As the younger brother of King Viserys, Daemon (Matt Smith) is the alleged heir to the Iron Throne. He is a fearless dragon knight and an even stronger warrior, who many may deem the villain of the plot. But does the plot have any good guys?
EIGHT HIGH TOWER

Played by Rhys Ifans, Otto is the Hand of King Viserys, the second most powerful man in the Seven Kingdoms, and the father of Alicent Hightower. He serves the kingdom but is a staunch opponent of Daemon.
ALICENT HIGHTOWER

Played by Emily Carey as a teenager and Olivia Cooke as an adult, Alicent is Otto’s daughter and Rhaenyra’s closest friend. She grew up in the Red Fortress of King’s Landing and in the inner circle of the royal family.
RHAENYS TARGARYEN

Rhaenys (Eve Best) joined the Iron Throne years ago in favor of her cousin King Viserys. She is married to Lord Corlys Velaryon and she is called “The Queen That Never Was”.
CORLYS VELARYON

Corlys (Steve Toussaint), also known as the “Sea Serpent” from his naval experience, is the head of House Velaryon and is married to Rhaenys Targaryen.
QUEEN AEMMA ARRYN

King Viserys’ wife, Queen Aemma Arryn (Sian Brooke), is determined to give him a male heir to take the Iron Throne.
SER HARROLD WESTERLING

Ser Harrold, played by Graham McTavish, is a powerful knight and member of the Kingsguard, who watches over Rhaenyra’s protection.
SER CRISTON COL

Ser Criston (Fabien Frankel) is a skilled Dorne swordsman who draws attention in King’s Landing.
MISARIA

Played by Sonoya Mizuno, Mysaria is a former prostitute who becomes Daemon’s most trusted confidant.
