Warning: This story contains huge spoilers for the Better Call Saul series finale, “Saul Gone,” so read at your own risk.
Fans had a lot of questions before AMC’s final season You better call Saul. What would become of Nacho Varga? How would the war between Gus Fring and Lalo Salamanca be resolved? And would Gene Takavic find some sort of redemption later?breaking Bad timeline? But apparently, above all, the fans were particularly eager to know the fate of Kim Wexler. Thankfully, the corporate lawyer-turned-sprayer employee survived, and series co-creator Vince Gilligan provided an A + update on his future after the finale that should allay fan concerns.
In the penultimate episode of the series, “Waterworks,” it was revealed that Kim, played by the brilliant Rhea Seehorn, was living in Florida after her death.breaking Bad was. Having long since given up on his aspirations as a lawyer, Wexler worked in an office at the Palm Coast Sprinkler and lived a quiet life in the suburbs. Her new life also included a boyfriend, Glenn, who offered her her version of Miracle Whip mayonnaise (complete with seemingly boring sex). All in all, our favorite attorney and defense attorney lived a fairly lackluster existence, which was only highlighted by the black and white palette. BC used for the “gene timeline”.
But things started to improve towards the end of the series, and these changes will apparently have a huge impact on the character after the events of the series. In an interview, Vince Gilligan explained that Kim Wexler is building a new life. And there may not be room for a certain person following this path:
Life will never be perfect. Incidentally, as we see in this latest episode, Kim is making some subtle but important life changes. You will be volunteering at the Legal Aid Society. So Glenn, her boyfriend of hers, seems like a good boy, but I don’t know if she will last in this new world that she will create for herself. I don’t know if he will be allowed to stay.
The comments the producer shared with the New Yorker They will be music to fans’ ears for sure. Personally, I have absolutely no problem with Kim leaving Glenn as he slowly returns to the legal profession. I’m not sure the well-meaning “guy” would really fit into Kim’s world if he ever became a full-fledged lawyer. And let’s be honest, does Kim really deserve a guy who says “yeah, yeah, yeah” while he’s having sex?
Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould gave Kim Wexler one of the most complex story arcs in the entire series, and she is easily one of the the best characters of all time You better call Saul This is breaking Bad . I’m just happy Kim didn’t have to die for Rhea Seehorn to win Emmy’s love . The actress is currently one of many 2022 Emmy Nominees , having earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. And she could get another nomination next year, thanks to the second batch of episodes of the sixth season.
like many of us, Rhea Seehorn was nervous about Kim’s fate , which is why she was relieved to learn of her fate in the series finale. After hearing Vince Gilligan’s update, I’d love to see Seehorn reprise the role and direct her show. Gilligan doesn’t have any spin-off plans at the moment, so for now I’ll (happily) stick with the happy ending he gave Kim here.
