
Director Francis Ford Coppola, who recently turned 80, has decided to resume his directing career with a new epic called “Megalopolis”.
Set in New York, the film will follow an architect who seeks to create a utopian city.
According to Deadline, Coppola has entered the casting phase. And the names mentioned are Adam Driver (“Gucci House”), Aubrey Plaza (“Child’s Play”), Forest Whitaker (“Black Panther”), Nathalie Emmanuel (“Fast & Furious 9”), Jon Voight (“Ray Donovan “) and Laurence Fishburne (” The Matrix “).
The script is ready and would be as ambitious as the classic “Apocalypse Now” (1979), according to sources linked to the director.
Filming is expected to begin later this year on a budget of approximately $ 100 million.
Coppola hasn’t filmed since the failure of “Distant Vision” in 2016. Before that, he released another flop, the horror “Virginia”, in 2011.
