HBO has announced that it has closed the return of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, starring the inimitable Larry David, for its 12th season.
“Larry excels season after season and always comes back when the audience needs him most,” said Amy Gravitt, vice president of programming at HBO. “We are thrilled that he, Jeff Schaffer and our phenomenal cast continue to make us laugh and shiver in equal measure.”
HBO loves the series, which has been airing since 2000 with long interruptions, but it depends on David’s willingness to produce his seasons.
One of the longest waits was between seasons 8 and 9, which lasted six years, followed by another three-year hiatus for the tenth year of production.
The eleventh and most recent season ended last December.
The series follows an exaggerated version of David, who lives a fictional life full of conflicts inspired by seemingly real situations. As an example of this mingling, he acts with a fixed cast of performers, but also with other actors who live themselves.
Although David has never married his ex-wife’s performer, Cheryl Hines – who in real life is married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son of assassinated Senator Robert F. Kennedy – is not run by comedian Jeff Garlin and does not share Your Home with JB Smoove, the delightfully grumpy mood shown in the episodes is based 100% on real-life reactions from the actor-producer.
“Playing the role of Larry David was the greatest honor of my life,” David explains in the statement confirming the return of the series.
“In researching this multifaceted and multi-talented man, I discovered that there is more to him than I could ever have imagined: he speaks six languages, he salts his pickles and leads a national movement to install a bidet in every home. more generous than lovers. I am very excited to become this force of nature once again. I just pray that I can do it justice. “
