US platform Hulu has released the poster and trailer for “Reboot”, a new comedy series from Steve Levitan, the creator of “Modern Family,” which jokes about the television industry’s growing penchant for reviving blockbuster shows from the past.
The preview explains the plot, which revolves around the revival of an old sitcom. The series will follow behind the scenes of the production, which will be re-recorded with the original actors. Without seeing each other since the end of the program, the reunion creates awkward moments. But the main emphasis is on the cultural clash between the team of new writers, hired to update the series, and the creator of the attraction, which reflects the social and cultural changes of recent years.
The cast includes Keegan-Michael Key (“Schmigadoon!”), Johnny Knoxville (“Jackass Forever”) and Judy Greer (“Ant-Man”) as former sitcom stars Calum Worthy (“The Act”) as ex-child actor Paul Reiser (“Stranger Things”) as show creator Rachel Bloom (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) as new visionary screenwriter and Krista Marie Yu (“Last Man Standing”) in role as Vice President of Comedy at Hulu.
“Reboot” marks Levitan’s return to the series after 11 seasons of “Modern Family”, which ended in 2020.
The premiere is scheduled for September 20 in the United States and the next launch is expected to take place in Brazil by Star +.
