Director Mattson Tomlin, who directed the recent “Mother x Androids” (2021), has been confirmed as the screenwriter of the next “Batman” film, which will be directed again by Matt Reeves.
The news began to circulate this Tuesday (8/23) shortly after Reeves signed an exclusive millionaire deal with Warner Bros.
The writer also worked with Reeves on the first “Batman,” helping to solve problems in the third act of the plot, although he was not credited. The script of the film is attributed only to Reeves and Peter Craig. This time, however, he will be the main screenwriter.
The plot has not yet been written, but the process is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
It is worth mentioning that Tomlin has already signed a movie about superpowers: “Power” (2020), from Netflix. More recently, he collaborated on the story of the cartoon “The beast of the sea” (2022), also published by the streaming platform.
Tomlin met Reeves during the production of “Mother vs. Androids”, his directorial debut, produced by the director’s company “Batman”. The two got along well and Reeves asked for his assistance when he needed help writing the hero of Gotham City.
Subsequently, the screenwriter also wrote Batman for DC Comics: a miniseries called “Batman: The Imposter”, released in 2021 with positive reviews.
He is currently working on another comic book adaptation: “BRZRKR”, based on a title created by Keanu Reeves for Boom! Studios, which will be distributed by Netflix.
