White Noise, Noah Baumbach’s next film, will open the Venice Film Festival. Starring Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig, it will be released on Netflix in 2022.
Netflix has just released the first teaser for the black comedy White Noise, an adaptation of the novel. background noise Written by Don DeLillo from writer and director Noah Baumbach. The film will open both the Venice Film Festival (at the end of August) and the New York Film Festival (in October). Baumbach’s latest film, Marriage Story, also starring Adam Driver (opposite Scarlett Johansson), screened at both festivals in 2019.
Adam Driver stars as Jack Gladney, a professor specializing in Hitler at Midwestern University of Letters and Social Sciences and Humanities. In the original novel, Gladney, his wife, Babette (Greta Gerwig), and their children must deal with a poisonous gas leak that descends on their town and puts everyone at risk. Rafi CassidyAlessandro Nivola, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lars Eidinger, Don Cheadle and Andre Benjamin, better known as Andre 3000 of Outkast, round out the cast.
“Days may be aimless. Let the seasons follow each other. Be completely unpredictable.” says Adam Driver in this teaser, before the sound of gunfire introduces the film’s title. White Noise is the first adaptation by Noah Baumbach, who previously wrote all of his films. DeLillo’s original novel was first published in 1985. And it won the National Book Award, one of America’s most A prestigious literary award.
While Netflix has yet to set an official release date, the teaser ends with a simple “future.”
