Netflix made a cast change for “The Witcher”, with a villain changing face into a new cast of actors in the series.
According to Redanian Intelligence, a website specializing in the series, the sorcerer Rience, played by Chris Fulton during the second season, will now be played by Sam Woolf. The reason for the change is not yet known, something that has already become common in “The Witcher,” but conflicts with Fulton’s program are believed to have motivated the change.
Rience first appeared in Netflix’s live-action adaptation in the fifth episode of the second season, titled “Decisions and Consequences”. He is released from prison by a mysterious figure and sent to hunt Ciri.
As in the books of Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher, Rience is a fire mage whose face is covered in horrible scars, a consequence of his encounter with Yennefer of Vengerberg, who fought Rience to save the bard Jaskier.
In the second season, “The Witcher” also had to perform another change of actor, in this case the character Eskel, originally played by actor Thue Ersted Rasmussen, who was eventually replaced by Basil Eidenbenz due to the Covid pandemic. 19.
Filming for the third season of “The Witcher” is underway, even after a brief hiatus caused by the pandemic and a temporary departure from series star Henry Cavill. It remains to be seen how much this delay will affect the release date of the series.
Rumors indicate end-of-season filming will be in September, in time for the new episodes to arrive on Netflix in 2023.
But before that, Netflix is believed to plan to release the live-action prequel series, “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” which is already in post-production after several takes.
Officially, neither the third season of “The Witcher” nor the prequel of “The Witcher: Blood Origin” have announced the release dates.
