Alison Oliver Francis
A keen observer and erudite student, nothing escapes Francis… except perhaps his own feelings. If she leaves the relationship with Bobby, she remains inseparable from her former lover, with whom she does not hesitate to stage their poems.
But everything changes when he meets Nikki’s charming smile. In order to exorcise the demons, he writes the stories of his heart, which we follow in the 12 episodes of this first season.
Series creators Lenny Abrahamson and Leanne Welham entrusted the complex score of young Francis to Alison Oliver. For his first screen role, the Irish actor takes the challenge brilliantly!
Joe Alvin as Nick

A slightly disillusioned theater actress, Nika may be lost in her own feelings, but she is sure of one thing: an extramarital affair is not the least bit of a problem for her. If the seductress is quick to draw Frances into her net, she is far less experienced in expressing her feelings…
Joe Alvin perfectly portrays the dark young man. Aside from his acting talents, the one we saw in Operation Finale and Boy Erased is a great music lover who has notably written and co-written for a certain Taylor Swift!
Sasha Lane is Bobbie

Straight from New York, Bob has a strong personality and boundless energy. She calls herself Frances’ “muse,” and even though she thinks she’s moved on from their relationship, seeing her fall into her ex’s arms brings back her fear of abandonment.

Melissa is sometimes morally always up for new experiences. Intrigued by the duo Frances and Bob and their work, he approaches the latter, who is therefore a woman…: a great first for this famous writer.
Justin Mitchell is Paula

Justin Mitchell (Smother) lends his features to Paula, Francis’ mother in the adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel. Always ready to greet his daughter when she returns for the weekend, he is a great ear for her heart problems.
Alex Murphy as Philip

Philip, played by Alex Murphy (Young Offenders), is Frances and Bob’s friend and confidant. In the summer, he finds Frances a job at the publishing house where he works: an opportunity to exchange the craziest gossip with him over a cup of coffee.

Dennis, played by Tommy Tiernan (Father Ted), is Frances’ father. Never recovering from his breakup with Paula and falling into alcoholism, he may prove to be too much of a burden for his daughter…
