After last week’s disappointment, reward this week with the long-awaited House of the Dragon credits reveal. The show’s opening sequence was indeed revealed on episode two this Monday, and surprise! The musical theme chosen is none other than Game of Thrones.
Note that this is neither a re-orchestration nor a modified version, but an authentic GoT theme, of which Dragon House is the official prequel. The big surprise is sure to cement the ties that unite the two series, despite the 172 years that separate their plots.
While the credits of Game of Thrones revealed a map of Westeros, its main citadels, as well as the various clans that claim to ascend the throne, House of the Dragon takes us through the corridors of the ancient city of Valyria, which was in ruins. Visited Tyrion Lannister in Season 5 of GoT.
Remember that the series is inspired by an anthology work Fire and blood (two volumes), devoted to the history of the Targaryen clan (several stories from the book are thus adapted in this prequel). Thus, these titles depict the genealogical tree of the fair-haired family and refer to several of its famous members, including King Aegon, the conqueror of the kingdom of the Seven Kingdoms, whose coat of arms, decorated with a three-headed dragon, is especially visible on the screen.
Dragon House Credits:
The red thread of these titles is this stream of blood, which goes from a simple cast to a real river of hemoglobin, and recalls how much the history of the Targaryen clan was written with noise and fury (more precisely, in fire and blood). The tone seems to be set this way, with the first few episodes of the series announcing new succession intrigue at the bottom of a fratricidal rivalry between King Viserys and his demon brother.
Dragon House episodes are offered every Monday exclusively on OCS City and the OCS on Demand platform.
