The list contains 28 subscribers; the national representative for the Best International category will start on 9 September
The 2023 Brazilian Oscar Selection Committee will define, on the morning of this Tuesday 30th, the six short films preselected to represent Brazil in the category Best International Filmex category of best foreigner.
28 films have qualified and, after the six selected, the chosen one will be announced on 9 September.
THE Brazilian Academy of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts formed the Selection Committee with 25 members and, as there are representatives from different regions of the country, the meeting will be virtual. It is believed that the list of the six finalists will be published by 10.00.
According to Academy rules, the deadline for entries for all categories of the Oscars is November 15th. A preliminary list of finalists will be announced towards the end of the year on 21 December. The final announcement of the Oscar nominees will be made on January 24, 2023, and the ceremony is scheduled for Sunday March 12 in Los Angeles. For this year’s competition, Brazil competed private desert, by Aly Muritiba. The winner was the Japanese Drive my carby Ryusuke Hamaguchi.
