The organization of the Festival do Rio has announced the films of Première Brasil, the national selection of its 2022 edition, which includes the competitive show of the event.
The festival which features most of the national films will bring 70 productions, including feature films and short films, which will be distributed in five shows: National Competition, Novos Rumos, Hors Concours, Retratos and O Estado das Coisas. The list was the result of a selection that analyzed more than 450 short films and 200 feature films submitted.
Among the selected works we highlight “Rule 34”, a film by Julia Murat which won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival, in Switzerland, and “Pirlims”, the new animation by Alê Abreu, nominated for an Oscar for “O Menino eo Mundo “, as well as new works by famous directors such as Marcelo Gomes (awarded at Cannes for” Cinema, Aspirinas and Urubus “), Adirley Queirós (awarded at IndieLisboa for” Mato Seco em Chamas “), Carolina Jabor (awarded at the Festival do Rio for “A Teus Olhos”), Fellipe Barbosa (awarded in Cannes for “Gabriel and Montanha”), Iberê Carvalho (awarded in Gramado for “O Último Cine Drive-In”), José Eduardo Belmonte (winner of the Festival do Rio for “Se Nada Mais Der Certo”), the films directed by the actors Murilo Benício and Johnny Massaro, and many others.
The main stage of the event, which will take place from 6 to 16 October, will still be the traditional Cine Odeon, a room located in Cinelândia, which will host the international gala sessions, in addition to the national Hors Concours.
