‘Pinocchio’, Guillermo Del Toro’s obscure stop-motion for Netflix, opens in London


The new animation will participate in the BFI London Film Festival in October; then it comes out in theaters and arrives on Netflix in December

The world premiere of the film Pinocchio, by Guillermo Del Toro, will take place during the 66th BFI London Film Festivalwhich takes place in the English capital from 5 to 15 October 2022. It is the Mexican director’s dark version of the classic fairy tale about a wooden puppet brought to life to comfort the heart of a wood carver named Geppetto.

Produced by Netflix, the stop-motion film was directed by del Toro and Mark Gustafson and has a screenplay by Mexican director and Patrick McHale.

The voice cast of Pinocchio includes Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Geppetto and Gregory Mann as Pinocchio. Also in the cast are Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman, Christoph Waltz and Tilda Swinton.

The music for the film was created by French composer Alexandre Desplat, who also wrote the score.

THE Netflix the film is expected to hit theaters in November before making it available for streaming in December.
