Winnie the Pooh Horror Slasher Gets Bloody Trailer; look!

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, Winnie the Pooh’s horror slasher, won its first official trailer this Wednesday (31).

With a title that translates to “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey”, the film stars Craig David Dowsett as Winnie the Pooh and Chris Cordell as his best friend, Piglet. The duo goes on a rampage when Christopher Robin (Nikolai Leon) abandons them both to go to college.

When they no longer have the influence of their human friend, the animal duo rebels and starts chasing humans close to their homes. The trailer shows the characters in the midst of this phase of rage, showing a macabre interpretation of the cute and adorable characters from AA Milne.

Rhys Waterfield, the film’s director, revealed to Variety that the film was shot over a 10-day period near Ashdown Forest in England. Location matters because it was what inspired the creation of 100 Acres Grove, from Milne’s original stories.

The reason a film like this is possible is that the original work entered the public domain this year. But to avoid problems with Disney, which owns the royalties for the character interpretations, the film altered a few elements, including the swapping of Winnie the Pooh’s iconic red shirt for lumberjack gear, and the absence of characters like Tigger, who is still under copyright.

“When you try to make a movie like that, and it’s a really crazy concept, it’s very easy to follow a path where nothing is scary and it’s really ridiculous and very, like, stupid,” said the director. “And we wanted to be between the two of them.”

The release of “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” is scheduled for the end of the year, but there is still no information on the distribution of the film in Brazil.
