Netflix Quiz: You Can’t Identify These 10 Movies From The First Picture!

You will only have the right to one picture, and not any of them, the first to try to identify these nine films found in the Netflix France catalog.

There are films that have gone down in the history of cinema and marked the audience primarily with their introductions. A shot sequence, for example, a process consisting of continuously shooting a scene without any cuts, can be used as a film opening for a visually and technically stunning introduction.

For example, we can think of the virtuosity of Paul Thomas Anderson, who opened his Boogie Nights on the street before entering the club, walking from table to table and following the waiter on roller skates. In the late 1970s, it was John Carpenter who used the same process in the introduction to Halloween, a long five-minute sequence, the conclusion of which created its own small effect on a young Michael Myers.

Another director, Stanley Kubrick, known for his control and precision, also provided some memorable introductions. The most famous is undoubtedly 2001 A Space Odyssey. A long introduction to prehistoric times, almost a mini-film in itself, ending with one of cinema’s most famous elliptical fits, a bone thrown by a monkey that becomes Johann Strauss’s wandering spaceship on the Blue Danube. We can also note, from the same director, the slow-motion tracking shot at the beginning of A Clockwork Orange that cuts across the Korova Milkbar to arrive at Alex’s unsettling gaze.

With this new quiz, we invite you to try to identify the nine films presented in the Netflix France catalog, using only their first image.
