“Stranger Things” breaks records two months after the conclusion of season 4

The fourth season of “Stranger Things” came out about two months ago on Netflix, but even so, the series continues to break records in streaming.

according to Deadline, all four parts of the saga were watched for 1.42 billion minutes in the first week of August, keeping the show at the top of Nielsen’s streaming charts. It was the eighth milestone in the series of this type in 2022.

The value is down 22% from the previous week, but remains impressive compared to Virgin River and Lightyear, which hit the 1.38 billion and 1.30 billion mark, respectively. The list also includes Sandman (1.02 billion), Uncharted (1.01 billion), Purple Hearts (828 million), Cocomelon (741 million) and Keep Breathing (722 million).

Long-running dramas like NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy close the chart, with 692 million and 678 million minutes respectively. At the portal, Nielsen said that, as of February, the list had no five titles with more than 1 billion minutes of viewing.

Among the top ten, but still noteworthy, is the sequel to “Predator”, titled “Predator: The Hunt”, which, among the films, reached no.

Season 4 breaks Netflix’s viewership record

As of July 21, “Stranger Things” season 4 ran for 1.3 billion hours since its premiere, breaking the most popular season record for an English-language Netflix series.

These figures were released as part of Netflix’s quarterly financial results.

The record places this season of “Stranger Things” far above other original streaming series, such as “The Umbrella Academy”, with 284 million hours watched; “The Lincoln Lawyer,” which had 277 million viewing hours; and “Heartstopper”, with 67 million hours.

“Stranger Things” had already become the first English-language series on Netflix to exceed one billion hours. The single most watched series in its first month of airing is “Round 6,” which had a staggering 1.65 billion hours watched.

Other information revealed in the quarterly report includes the fact that Netflix lost nearly a million subscribers in the quarter between April and June, a number that, while negative, is well below the company’s more pessimistic forecasts.
