In the record books as the highest-grossing series ever produced, The Rings of Power once again makes headlines, marking the best launch of all time for an original Amazon Prime Video production!
Launching this Friday, September 2nd, The Lord of the Rings has indeed attracted over 25 million curious viewers over the weekend. A record-breaking run that vindicates all the hopes the streaming platform has for its adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s novels (the series also benefited from an early renewal for a second season). Jennifer Salke, director of Amazon Studios, enthuses:
I am so grateful to the Tolkien family—and our showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay, executive producer Lindsey Weber, cast and crew—for their tireless collaboration and boundless creative energy. And it’s the tens of millions of fans watching – obviously as passionate about Middle Earth as we are – that’s the true measure of our success.
Ready to do everything to ensure the success of the series, the Prime Video platform has not hesitated to review its moderation system: thus, comments and ratings attributed to the program will now take 72 hours to appear online.
This is to ensure that messages published on the series do not appear on the weekend after its episodes are broadcast, as well as, according to Amazon authorities, to strengthen the fight against trolls and other phenomena. Review bombing (a string of bad reviews followed by a controversy that has only an indirect relationship to the quality of the series itself).
