Netflix reveals future Brazilian productions on the platform

Netflix has revealed a list of upcoming Brazilian movies, series, reality shows and specials that will go into production by the end of 2022.

Among the announcements is Paranoid Films’ action and criminal investigation series “DNA do Crime,” which will be directed by Heitor Dhalia and will follow the work of a group of federal police officers in an unprecedented investigation, which will begin to unravel the construction of crime in the country.

Netflix has also announced two comedy productions with actor and comedian Leandro Hassum. The first is “BO”, the first series on the platform starring Hassum, produced by Camisa Listrada, with general direction by Pedro Amorim and screenplay by Carol Garcia.

“BO (yes, it comes from a police report) is set in a police station in Rio de Janeiro, where the goofy Suzano (Hassum) becomes the police chief after being transferred from the countryside,” describes Netflix.

From the same production company is the film “Meu-in-law is a vampire”, also starring the actor and directed by Alê McHaddo, with a script by Paulo Cursino. The company described the film as follows: “Fernandinho (Hassum), family man, former football player and current commentator on his garage podcast, is surprised by the uncomfortable visit of his brother-in-law Gregório (Rômulo Arantes Neto), who is relatively bloated. and bloodsucker that Fernandinho turns out to be literally a … vampire! ”.

Another confirmation in the world of comedy is the unpublished special “Whindersson Nunes: this is not a cult”, a show recorded in Porto, Portugal.

Another production that has received an update from Netflix is ​​the fictional miniseries inspired by “Chacina da Candelária”, which will be produced by Jabuti Filmes and Kromaki, as well as directed by Marcia Faria and Luis Lomenha, who signs as showrunner and executive producer. . According to the platform, production registrations have already begun.

“In four episodes, the production will mix realism, fantasy and afrofuturism as an aesthetic innovation strategy to tell the trajectory of four children in the 36 hours preceding the tragedy from the point of view of each of them. Coming from broken families, these young people find in the streets of Rio de Janeiro, and in mutual company, a way to touch life and, who knows, fulfill their dreams and experience adventures – until their future is interrupted ”.

The series will see the participation of well-known and renowned figures of Brazilian entertainment, such as Antônio Pitanga, Péricles, Adriano Garib, Juliana Lohmann, Leandro Firmino, Maria Bopp, Stepan Nercessian and Xênia França, among others.

Netflix also announced the continuation of national projects already underway, including the sequel to the romantic film “Ricos de Amor” and the new seasons of “Sintonia” (season 4), “Back to 15” (season 2), “The Mother -in-Law “Que Te Pariu” (Season 2) and “Marriage as Blind Brazil (Season 3).

In addition to the aforementioned productions, Netflix announced that it is investing in Brazil, in 2022, R $ 5 million in programs for the development of professionals in the audiovisual market, to expand and improve the local talent network and “promote more and inclusive narratives. for the approximation, identification and training of people from historically underrepresented groups, ”said the company.

Part of this is the “Segundo Ato” initiative, launched by Netflix this Monday, aimed at black and indigenous screenwriters currently in the Brazilian audiovisual market.
