Netflix has announced that it will produce the fourth film and a series by Leandro Hassum. The productions are the news of a package of national productions unveiled by the platform this Monday (9/5).
The film is called “Meu-in-law is a vampire” and features Rômulo Arantes Neto, Edson Celulari, Mel Maia, Monique Alfradique, Caio Mendonça and Charles Paraventi. The comedy tells the story of Fernandinho (Hassum), a family man and former footballer who always quarrels with his ex-wife. One day he is surprised by the visit of his brother-in-law Gregório (Rômulo Arantes Neto), who has just returned from Europe.
Young, handsome and loose, he lives by Fernandinho. Besides, he is also a vampire and is attacking the neighborhood.
The screenplay is by Paulo Cursino, who wrote two of the three films Hassum has already released on Netflix: “Tudo Bem no Natal Que Vem” (2020) and the recently released “Neighbors”. Directed by Alê McHaddo, who signed the third feature film, “Amor Sem Medida” (2021).
The series is called “BO” and starts from an original idea by Hassum himself in collaboration with Fabíola Alves, Gui Cintra and Nigel Goodman – who worked on the programs of Danilo Gentili and Fábio Porchat.
In the story, Hassum lives a clumsy delegate from the interior of Rio de Janeiro, who after accidentally capturing a runaway bandit is transferred to the capital Rio de Janeiro. His confusions bring down a police station, but his unconventional methods, coupled with his good heart, are the very secret weapon this group is counting on to neutralize crime.
The series does not yet have an announced cast.
The three films released so far must have been a hit for Netflix to insist on Hassum. Because they haven’t convinced the critics. Adam Sandler’s goodwill with laundering in “All Is Christmas Coming” was lost with the politically incorrect production of “Breakfast Love” and ended up buried by the lack of fun in “Neighbors”. Unanimously negative by critics, “Neighbors” received the worst ratings of Hassum’s career, even worse than “If You Can … Drive!” (2013).
