“Cobra Kai”: how to watch the fifth season of the series

The fifth season of “Cobra Kai” is upon us, bringing more karate, dojo fights and some of the most iconic characters in history.

The new episodes arrive a few months after the Season 4 premiere, which took place on December 31, 2021, growing more and more in the interest of fans.

“Cobra Kai” is a sequel to the 1980s franchise, “The Karate Kid,” and each season brings back to life movie characters and villains who return to disrupt the lives of the protagonists. The series focuses on a well-known film duo: Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio, and his archenemy Johnny Lawrence, in the role of William Zabka.

The franchise’s most iconic rivalry is back in the series, years after the iconic All-Valley tournament. In the present, Johnny Lawrence is presented as a depressed alcoholic who still hasn’t gotten over his tournament defeat to Daniel LaRusso all those years ago. Meanwhile, LaRusso has a successful car sales business and a loving family alongside him.

But Johnny decides to open his own dojo, called Cobra Kai, after meeting a bullying high school student, Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduena), and teaches him the cruel fighting style of the Cobra Kai. With the addition of more students, Johnny resumes his rivalry with Daniel, after the latter has started his dojo to bring forward Mr. Miyagi, your former sensei.

Over the course of the four seasons, several names and faces familiar to “Karate Kid” fans have returned to the scene, such as Kartin Kove, Traci Toguchi, Yuji Okumoto and Elisabeth Shue. But Thomas Ian Griffith’s appearance as sensei maniac Terry Silver in Season 4 was the one that had the most catastrophic consequences on the plot, which continues into Season 5.

Although originally a YouTube original series, the rights to “Cobra Kai” have moved to Netflix, where it will be possible to watch episodes of the new season. The series is a Netflix exclusive and can be viewed on the platform by streaming subscribers.

The fifth season of “Cobra Kai” arrives on Netflix on Friday, September 9, with a total of ten episodes of approximately 30 minutes each, as is the standard of the previous seasons.
