Delegate General Thierry Fremo has presented the official selection for the 75th Cannes Film Festival, which runs from 17 May to 28 May. Discover all the two-week films.
Following the canceled 2020 edition and the hidden summer edition of 2021, the Cannes Film Festival will take on a more ordinary situation in 2022 and return to its traditional May location. The 75th edition will be held from May 17 to 28, 2022.
“We are in our brands, but between two rounds: the festival will be held between the presidential and legislative elections”– Said the president of the festival Pierre Lescure in the preamble of the press conference.
The jubilee edition obliges, Thierry Fremo, its general manager, to announce many important events and surprises, starting with a visit to Tom Cruise’s event for a Top Gun Maverick presentation. Elvis Cruise also dances: this is Buzz Lurman’s new film.
To open the holidays, Thierry Fremo once again chose the zombie movie. After Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Do Not Die”, it’s time for Z (as Z), a new comedy by Michel Hazanavicius, starring Roman Diour, Beren Bejo, and the great actors that promises to open up to many stars of French cinema.
This morning 47 films were announced, all sections united (competition, out of competition, certain views, Cannes premiere). Four former Golden Palm branches will return to the competition side (Ostlund, Mungiu, Darden and Core-Eda). Check out the full list below: The jury and poster will be published in the coming days, as well as imminent updates in various categories.
Thierry Fremo also wanted to thank and greet Pierre Lescure, for whom this will be the last festival as president. Iris Knoblokh will occupy it at the end of the 2022 edition.
