‘The Crown’ filming suspended due to death of Queen Elizabeth II

______________________________

Filming of the sixth season of the drama series The Crown, which tells the story of the British royal family, has been suspended following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. This was reported by Deadline, citing the creator of the show, Peter Morgan. According to him, the production of the series will be interrupted “out of respect” for Her Majesty. How long this pause will last is not specified.

I have nothing to add to this now, only silence and respect,” he said.

“Crown” for Morgan – the second project about the life of Elizabeth II. In 2006, he directed the film The Queen, starring Helen Mirren.

The plot of the sixth season should cover the reign of the queen in the zero years, as well as the growing up of princes William and Harry. The other day, the showrunners approved the actors for their roles and for the role of Kate Middleton. At the same time, nothing was said about the postponement of the premiere of the already filmed fifth season, which is expected on November 5.

Previously, another creator of “The Crown” Stephen Daldry said that work on the show will be interrupted in the event of the death of the queen.

None of us knows when that time will come, but it would be the right thing to do and show respect for the queen. It would be a small tribute and a sign of respect,” he said back in 2016.

Recall that the role of the queen in the new series will be performed by Imelda Staunton. Also appearing in the series are Jonathan Pryce (he plays Prince Philip), Leslie Manville (Princess Margaret), Dominic West (Prince Charles), Elizabeth Debicki (Princess Diana).

In the first seasons, Queen Elizabeth II was played by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman.
