The Vanity Fair edition has published the first photos from the shooting, and at the same time the shots from the new work of the director of the films “La La Land” and “Obsession” Damien Chazelle. The historical drama Babylon is a story about the transition from silent to sound films in Hollywood and the beginning of the Golden Age of Hollywood, which took place in the 1920s. Chazelle is known to have mulled over the idea for the tape for 15 years. According to the director himself, he wanted to show not only the luxurious life of the actors of those times, but also the “wrong side” of fame, constant ups and downs, as well as how the industry “grinds” people thirsty for fame.
My main idea was to make a big, epic movie with a lot of characters about the times when Los Angeles and Hollywood were becoming what we know them today. I constantly put off the idea because the film was too big … I wanted to convey how huge, rough and merciless that world was. For people who worked in the industry, it was the real Wild West. All these personalities rose to the heights of glory, fell, rose again and fell again. And the structure that they built began to devour them.

The prototype of the main character of the film, played by Brad Pitt, was the famous American actor and director John Gilbert, who worked in the 20s and 30s. Pitt’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star Margot Robbie will play the second lead role in the film. Also appearing in the film are: Lee Jun Lee, who will play Anna May Wong, as well as Katherine Waterstone, Samara Weaving, Max Minghella, Olivia Wilde, Spike Jonze and Tobey Maguire.
Contrary to the initial data that got into the media, most of the characters in the picture will be fictional, not real.
The premiere is scheduled for December 25th.
