“girl today children of form We love to laugh and dance !” Signed Cat’s Eyes is a cartoon adapted from Tsukasa Hojo’s manga of the same name. Created in 1983 in Japan, it has been broadcast since 1986 on FR3. Widely broadcast since 2004, the series has gained several generations of viewers.
It’s the story of three sisters, Tami, Alex and Celia, who work at the Cat’s Eye Cafe during the day and are thieves at night, recovering artwork that once belonged to their father, who disappeared under strange circumstances. They always sign off on the theft by leaving a card… but how do their nocturnal adventures end?
The last episode is the 73rd in the series and the 37th in the 2nd season. Titled Lifting the Veil in VF and The Play in VO, it begins with Celia and Tam contemplating their next target: a brooch containing a magnificent diamond. This is when Alex chooses to come and tell her that he has written a play.
Alex presents his work to Tam and Silia
Initially intrigued, the two sisters realize that the youngest of the family has written a play titled Cat or charm robberyInspired by their lives and who will play. Alex asks his sisters to interpret his role and they act as consultants for Alex to direct the play.
As night falls, Celia and Tam break in to steal the brooch. But the case is complicated because the object is kept in a safe hidden behind a mirror. They suddenly have an idea: they convince Alex to play Javotte Funiac, the owner of the brooch and a former high school student, in his play.
The plot accidentally calls for a diamond to be stolen, and Yavote is not only delighted to be offered the role, but agrees to use her diamond brooch in the play.

Vote with Alex’s conviction
Quentin, Tami’s boyfriend, negotiates a role in the play, as the police eventually arrest Cat’s Eyes, something he never managed to do in real life. His boss, Commissioner Bruno, agrees and thinks it will improve the image of the police.
In turn, Tamara made a copy of the brooch to continue the exchange. However, on the day of the performance, Javotte surprises everyone by revealing not a brooch but a diamond ring. So the Cat’s Eyes plan is foiled until Celia has an idea, but she doesn’t reveal it to the audience.

Cat’s eyes plan failed!
On stage, the play continues, telling us how Quentin will lose his job if he can’t stop Cat’s eyes before his next crime, or the fact that he forced himself to marry Tam only when she locked Cat’s eyes. Backstage, to adapt to Javotte’s surprise, Alex disastrously rewrites his sisters’ plan to make it work. Then, hidden on stage, he whispers new lines to his actors.
The plot of the play (and thus the plot of Cat’s Eyes) is now that Javotte Funiac’s maid, Marie-Laure, is actually Cat’s Eyes in disguise! Quentin tries to stop her, but realizes it’s his girlfriend, Tammy. He refuses to put her behind bars and leaves his boss to live his life, his love story. In this moment, Tammy condemns herself so that Quentin can keep the job he loves most.

Tam and Quentin
Except, in a final twist, Javotte notices that she still has the diamond ring on her finger, and thus refuses to believe that Tammy is Cat’s Eyes, since nothing was stolen from her. So the young woman was released and Quentin was returned to the police. End of part.
The episode ends with the commissioner noting that the diamond ring that Javotte was wearing during the performance is actually a replica, and that the cat’s eyes have succeeded once again! The identity of the thieves is always guaranteed, as for Quentin, he goes back to work.

A final shot of the cat’s eyes
Unfortunately for fans, this is the end of the series: the Chamade sisters will never find their on-screen father, and this final episode is very lacking in action compared to the rest of the series. Shame on you.
The series is fully available on the platform DNA.
