Episode 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is out on Prime Video! Two prominent characters from Tolkien’s universe make their first appearance: Elendil and Isildur. Featured in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies, discover their faces in the show vs. the movie!

Elendil

Isildur’s father, we see him more briefly than her son during the prologue of The Fellowship of the Ring. Played by Lloyd Owen Rings of Power And Peter McKenzie entered Lord of the Rings, he was first a captain on the island of Númenor, and then took part in the battle against Sauron during the alliance of Elves and Men. Accused by the Dark Lord, he loses his life before his son, Isildur, manages to kill him before he too dies. Elendil may mean “friend of the elves”.

In the prologue to Peter Jackson’s Fellowship of the Ring, Isildur was shown as an alliance between humans and elves fighting against the evil forces of Sauron. His father Elendil lost his life confronting the incarnation of evil, and he himself cut off the finger that bore one of the rings, ensuring victory for the forces of good. Shortly after, he loses his life, killed in an ambush, and the ring is lost at the bottom of the water before being found by Smeagol, alias Gollum. He is portrayed by Maxim Boldre in The Rings of Power and Harry Sinclair in The Lord of the Rings.
