Disney has released the national teaser of “The Little Mermaid”, a live-action version of the 90’s animation. The preview shows the protagonist swimming under the sea and ends with a musical show of the new version of “Part of Your. World “, with all the vocal talent of Halle Bailey (from the” Grown-ish “series), who plays the role of Ariel.
The detail is that you can already see that the dubbed version in Portuguese, with another voice, sounds very different (res).
The original vocal cast also includes Melissa McCarthy (“Ghostbusters”), Jonah Hauer King (BBC miniseries “Little Women”), Jacob Tremblay (“Extraordinary”), Awkwafina (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”), Daveed Diggs (“Express of Tomorrow”) and Javier Bardem (“Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge”).
Directed by Rob Marshall (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”) and the final version of the script was written by David Magee. Both worked together on 2018’s “Mary Poppins Returns”.
Composer Alan Menken, winner of the Academy Award for Best Original Song for his 1980s Disney cartoon, is also involved in the project, working with Lin-Manuel Miranda (another from “Mary Poppins Returns”) on the new soundtrack.
The first will take place in May 2023 in theaters.
