During his attendance this Saturday (9/10) at the Disney D23 convention, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige made a small reveal about the upcoming “Armor Wars” series, which will bring Don Cheadle once again in the role of James Rhodes, the hero war machine.
Feige has announced that “Armor Wars” will be the direct sequel to another Disney + series, “Secret Invasion,” which had its first trailer released at the event. Don Cheadle featured prominently in that preview.
The new attraction will be led by writer and comedian Yassir Lester, who previously worked with Cheadle on another series, “Black Monday,” in which he starred, wrote and produced.
Lester was also the writer-producer of “Kenan” and “#BlackAF”.
All the attractions mentioned are comedies with black actors. But her resume still includes scripts for the “Girls” series, one of HBO’s whiter attractions.
Announced last December, “Armor Wars” is based on a classic Marvel story, released in the 1980s, which examines what happens when the technology created by Tony Stark falls into the wrong hands.
The production will be one of two MCU series dedicated to Stark’s legacy after his death in “Avengers: Endgame”. The other is “Ironheart”, which will star Dominique Thorne (“If Beale Street Could Talk”) as the brilliant inventor Riri Williams and the heroine known as Ironheart: the character will be introduced in the sequel to “Black Panther”. .
