This Sunday (11), HBO unveiled another episode of its main attraction, “House of the Dragon”, a prelude to “Game of Thrones”.
Episode 4 of the series arrived bringing more elements of its parent series: rumors, rumors, conspiracies, desire, sex, betrayal and lies.
And much of this is motivated by the return of Daemon Targaryen, brother of King Viserys, after his adventures in the War of the Steps, in which he ended up defeating the Fat Crab after putting in place a daring plan, which resulted in a breathtaking scene. towards the end of episode 3 of “The House of the Dragon”.
Matt Smith, who plays Daemon, returns to his brilliance in this episode, showing more layers of the ambitious prince he plays as he returns to King’s Landing after his time away. Daemon returns with a crown all of his own and plans that will affect the future of the Targaryens, Westeros and his gods.
On the other hand, Rhaenyra becomes the target of rumors that could ruin her path to the crown and her status as heir to the Iron Throne.
Whether it’s Daemon executing his plans or Rhaenyra exploring the unknown paths of the Red Keep, actor duo Matt Smith and Milly Alcock shine on the scene and the dialogue between the proud, stubborn and determined duo Targaryen steals the show. .
So far, King Viserys has remained adamant in his belief that Rhaeryna is his successor. But we are starting to see more and more Hightowers begin their plot to make Alicent’s eldest son by King Viserys the rightful heir.
In addition to the relationship of the young Rhaenyra with the king shaken by rumors, in this episode of “The House of the Dragon” other ruptures of relationships that are even more important for the continuation of the plot of the series have begun to develop. Such events will have profound consequences for the formation of the Little Council and for the balance of forces at King’s Landing.
Those who came to the episode waiting for action, battles and blood after what we saw at the end of episode 3 might be disappointed, after all things are pretty calm about it so far. But it shouldn’t be long before all the tension that has built up over the course of the series explodes in the dragon’s fire.
Despite having no bloodshed, episode 4 is anything but calm and certainly ranks among the best of the season. With its twists, dialogues and paths, the episode takes another big step in building the biggest rivalry of “The House of the Dragon”.
The first 4 episodes of “House of the Dragon” are available on HBO Max. Episode 5 arrives next Sunday (6pm), at 10pm on HBO and HBO Max.
