Disney + releases the first scenes of “The American Chinese”; Appearance

The series is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Ben Wang

Lots of news from disney were announced at D23 Expo 2022 in Anaheim, California (USA) on Saturday 10. Among the productions, one of the highlights of the brand’s streaming platform is the American Chinese (Chinese born in Americain the original), based on the graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang, whose comic was named National Book Award.

The production tells the story of Jin Wang (Ben Wang), a normal teenager trying to balance his social life in high school and his family life. When he meets a new student on the first day of class, even more worlds collide as Jin is inevitably embroiled in a battle between Chinese mythological gods.

Destin Daniel Cretton will direct and executive produce the series. The cast includes names like Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han, Ke Huy Quan, Jimmy Liu, Sydney Taylor, Daniel Wu and Michelle Yeoh.
