Director Sofia Coppola (“The Stranger We Love”) will direct the film “Priscilla”, a biopic about Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, wife of singer Elvis Presley.
Based on the book “Elvis and Me”, written by Priscilla herself, the film will tell the story of the King of Rock’s rise through the eyes of his wife, from their first meeting to divorce.
“Priscilla” will star Cailee Spaeny (“Young Witches: New Sisterhood”) and Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria”) as Priscilla and Elvis respectively.
Elordi posted on his Instagram a photo of Elvis in army uniform to commemorate the training, without giving further details.
Coppola wrote the screenplay for the adaptation and will also produce the film, which will be distributed by independent studio A24.
Filming will begin in the next few months, but a release date has not yet been set.
This will be the third partnership between the director and the studio, following the films “Bling Ring: The Hollywood Gang” (2013) and “On the Rocks” (2020).
The story of Elvis and Priscilla Presley was recently seen in the film “Elvis” (2022), directed by Baz Luhrmann, which featured actors Austin Butler and Olivia DeJonge in the roles of the couple.
