The movie poster has always been a part of movie mythology. Like a trailer, it prepares and announces its release, sometimes revealing the themes or general atmosphere that awaits the viewer.

Each generation knew its own cult posters commemorating spirits, and for some of them, it was forever a return to popular culture. The works themselves were performed by very little-known artists whose names could be mentioned by several viewers.

One might think of Philip Castle, who with his brush drawing technique signed one of the most famous posters of the 70s, Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. A few years later he will also sign this same director on Full Metal Jacket and Tim Burton on Mars Attacks in the 90s.

It was the artist John Elvin who created the cult posters of that decade in the 80s. Undoubtedly the most famous of these is ET, where the alien and Elliot’s fingers touched the surface of the earth, echoing Michelangelo’s famous fresco. John Alvin is also the author of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner poster.

And if you look closely, you will find the signature of a very well-hidden artist on these two posters, because at that time these illustrators had to remain anonymous and had to commit atrocities in order to be able to leave their names on their works.
