Tonight on TV: The world’s greatest detective meets his worst enemy

Every day, AlloCiné recommends watching a movie (again) on TV. Tonight: The second investigation for Sherlock.

In 2009, facing the enthusiasm generated by Sherlock Holmes, Warner Bros. They plan to continue soon. Still directed by Guy Ritchie, it was released two years later as Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows.

This time, the writers mark the occasion by pitting the famous detective against his nemesis, Professor James Moriarty. An antagonist of such importance as the composer Hans Zimmer, who was already working on his first opus, composed a specific theme for him.

If Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Sean Penn or even Javier Bardem were approached for the role, it would ultimately go to the excellent Jared Harris. In this way, the actor finds Robert Downey Jr. for the second time in his career, after already answering in 1994 in the movie Born Killers by Oliver Stone.

Even more enjoyable than the original, this sequel has enjoyed relatively equivalent success at the box office and continues to delight fans, to the point where a third installment is apparently in the works… to follow.
