Vincent McCain, Sandrine Kiberlen: Meeting an unusual and attractive couple from the past chronicles.

It was, without any doubt, one of the most beautiful films of the last Cannes selection. One of the sweetest too. So much so that the timeline shown in the premiere section of Cannes very quickly joined the list of feature films that would deserve a place in the competition, which we just confirmed.

And it was the day after its official presentation, in a session whose mix of laughter and emotion recalled Julie (Chapter 12) last year, that we found her team: director Emmanuel More, once again taking an adventure on the tender map. And the duo Vincent McCain – Sandrine Kiberlen, the translator of these two lovers, of whom we only see interviews, not their separate lives.

A narrative bias reminiscent of Those (500) Days Together and Annie Hall, or Scenes from Ingmar Bergman’s Married Life, claimed the influence of Emmanuel Moretti, who almost called his film… Scenes from a Single Life. A feature film that is almost a love story between two married people rather than a story of adultery.
