Film director Jean-Luc Godard died on Tuesday, September 13 at the age of 91. The director of A bout de souffle, Pierrot le fou and Le Mépris recently starred in Mitra Farrahan’s documentary Friday, Robinson, in theaters this Wednesday.

Much time has passed since the 1960s, and Iranian New Wave has remained largely unknown, overshadowed by the glory of its European counterpart. But is it too late to bring the two leading figures of this distant experience together?
Film director, documentarian and visual artist Mitra Farahan (Fifi screams with joy) made a film about the epistolary correspondence between the two artists.
“Let’s start with correspondence– says Godard, –Maybe it won’t fit. Ebrahim can email me this Friday and I will reply next Friday. So, Friday, Robinson !”.
This is how the film unfolds, sometimes following a linear trajectory, most often side ways, full of disappointed hopes, brilliant intuitions and contradictions that reflect the confrontation between the two interlocutors.

Twice a week, the Iranian director received messages from the co-founder of the French New Wave. They consisted of secret formulas and mysterious montages of images.

The famous director described Farahan’s film as follows:They are two poker players who do not play the game but show each other cards to continue, in this sense each betrays their environment.“
