Netflix released on Thursday (15) the trailer for the film adapting Stephen King’s short story, “Mr. Harrigan “.

The film will explore a premise set by “King of Horror” Stephen King: What if you could keep talking to a friend after his death, instead of letting that person’s soul rest?

“Mr. Harrigan “follows a boy named Craig, played by Jaeden Martell, who befriends Mr. Harrigan (Donand Sutherland), an elderly and lonely billionaire. To better communicate with his friend, Craig gives Mr. Harrigan an iPhone.

But when the old billionaire dies, Craig hides his cell phone next to Mr. Harrigan, allowing him to be buried with the gift given by the young man. The problem is that Craig soon discovers he can communicate with his friend directly from the grave, and things soon take a sinister turn, with Stephen King reminding his audience that “Sometimes dead is better.”

The trailer shows that things start to go exactly the way Craig wanted and the kids who bothered him at school start dying one by one. The young man thus begins to investigate the life of Mr. Harrigan, and may find that her friend in his life was very different from what he imagined.

Based on the Stephen King short story of the same name, “Mr. Harrigan” is directed and written by John Lee Hancock, who first ventures into the horror genre, and is produced by Ryan Murphy, Jason Blum and Carla Hacken. The cast includes names like Joe Tippett, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Cyrus Arnold, Colin O’Brien, Thomas Francis Murphy and Peggy J. Scott, as well as Martell and Sutherland.

“Mr. Harrigan ”arrives on Netflix on October 5, 2022.
