Scott Bakula claims he refused the restart of “Quantum Leap”.

Actor Scott Bakula will not participate in the reboot of “Quantum Leap”, a classic series he starred in in the 1990s (and which was called “Contratempos” in Brazil). The information was disclosed by Bakula himself, in a post on his Instagram.

“I have no connection with this new series, neither in front of the camera nor behind it,” Bakula wrote in the caption of a photo from the original series.

Speculation about the actor’s involvement has been circulating since US channel NBC ordered the reboot pilot in January, and it only escalated when the new version’s actors released information about his character’s presence in interviews.

“Who knows?” Said the new lead, Raymond Lee (“Here and Now”), in an interview with the E! News. “Everyone I know who is involved in the reboot would like to see it come back,” Ernie Hudson (“Ghostbusters”) added to TVLine. “I know the invitation has been issued, but I don’t know what his response is.”

Indeed, the invitation was made, as Bakula himself admits in his post. But it was rejected. “In January, the pilot was sold and a script was sent to me, because the character of Sam Beckett was there, which makes sense, right? As many of you have been asking me over the past few months, ‘How can you do’ Quantum Leap? ‘ without Sam? ‘ (or Al, for that matter) Well, I think we’ll find out, “Bakula wrote.

According to the official synopsis: “It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) stepped into the quantum leap accelerator and disappeared. Now, a new team has been assembled to restart the project in hopes of understanding the mysteries. behind the car and the man who created it. “

“This is the story. Because the series has always been close to me and dear to my heart, it was a very difficult decision to transfer the project, a decision that has upset and confused so many fans of the original series. However, some have l The idea of ”jumping” in time and living in someone else’s shoes remains a very compelling concept and therefore worth exploring, especially considering the current state of humanity. In this spirit, I am crossing my fingers that this new cast and the new crew will be lucky enough to harness the magic that pushed the original “Quantum Leap” into the hearts and minds of generations past and present. I wish them luck and a good jump! “Bakula added.

For those who don’t remember, “Quantum Leap” originally ran for five seasons, broadcast between 1989 and 1993. Its episodes followed a scientist who, after an experiment, began to involuntarily travel through time, “jumping” into people’s bodies. coming from different eras.

In addition to Bakula in the lead role, the cast highlighted Dean Stockwell, the performer of a hologram who followed the adventures of the protagonist. Stockwell died last November at the age of 85. For their roles, both actors received Emmy nominations for four consecutive years.

The reboot is produced by Steven Lilien (creator of “God Added Me”), Bryan Wynbrandt (showrunner of “La Brea”) and Martin Gero (creator of “Blindspot”). The creator of the original “Quantum Leap”, Don Bellisario, is also on board as a producer. And in addition to Lee and Hudson, the cast also includes Anastasia Antonia (“This Game Is Called Murder”), Mason Alexander Park (“Sandman”), Jewel Staite (“Family Law”) and Georgina Reilly (“Murdoch Mysteries”).
