Keanu Reeves’ return to the “Constantine” franchise was the shovel that was missing for the build-up of the series that producer JJ Abrams had been developing with the character for two years, Deadline website revealed on Friday night (9/16). .
The inclusion of Abrams’s name in the new film would therefore be a consolation for the effort made with the project, which had to face resistance from DC Comics fans themselves, due to the leak that Constantine was not white in ‘ attraction. Some sites even mention actor Riz Ahmed (the “Venom” villain) by name as the producers’ preference.
In addition to “Constantine”, HBO Max also turned down the “Madame Xanadu” project, developed by director Angela Robinson, who directed and wrote “Professor Marston and the Wonderful Women” about the creation of Wonder Woman.
The mystical Soothsayer series would also be produced by JJ Abrams and would be part of a line of attractions on DC’s horror characters, which make up the “Justice League Dark”. Madame Xanadu is a member of this group, as are Constantine and Zatanna, who would win a movie on HBO Max. None of this will happen again.
Even so, there are still chances of the productions being offered to the market, as happened with the new Batman animated series, which after being turned down by HBO Max has received several offers from rival platforms.
